Steve
is one of the most respected lake/water experts in Minnesota. He has been hired
since 2011 by the local Comfort Lake-Forest Lake Watershed District to better
understand Forest Lake aquatic invasive species issues. Steve will
speak about:
- Forest
Lake’s Curly Leaf
Pondweed issue and his
assessment of our three year herbicide treatment program and the future
outlook.
- Zebra
Mussels and a planned 2012 study to
assess Forest Lake’s vulnerability to Zebra Mussel infestation, if and
when they arrive.

Management Programs”

- The
2012 projects which reduce phosphorus influx into Forest Lake( 3000
lbs/yr) by treating storm water runoff.
- The
availability of residential grants ($3000) and City grants ( $50,000) to
encourage future projects.
