Annual Wine-Beer Tasting Event

Lake Fest Event!

Join us at the 4th annual Forest Lake Lake Association

Wine and Beer Tasting Event at Vannelli’s by the Lake June 1st at 6:30.

Sample over 70 different wines and over 12 different beers. The cost is $35 and includes wine, beer and appetizers. There will be drawings and a silent auction.
This is the official kickoff event for the 2012 Lake Fest. All proceeds go toward the lake association programs and projects.

Annual Meeting is April 24

Dear Friends of the Lake,

Mark your calender for this can't miss, informative and educational event , on Tuesday, April 24 at 7PM at Vannelli's restaurant, 55 S Lake St, FL, Mn.

In addition to reviewing this years programs, we have two educational speakers. One is a leading lake expert who will speak on two key
Forest Lake  issues: Curly Leaf Pondweed and Zebra Mussels. Our second speaker will cover the important issue of storm water runoff. See details below.

I     “Understanding and Controlling Forest Lake

Invasive Species"
by Steve McComas,  Pres., Bluewater Science, Inc
 
  
 Steve is one of the most respected lake/water experts in Minnesota. He has been hired  since 2011 by the local Comfort Lake-Forest Lake Watershed District to better understand  Forest Lake  aquatic invasive species issues. Steve will speak about:
  • Forest Lake’s Curly Leaf Pondweed issue and his assessment of our three year herbicide treatment program and the future outlook.
  • Zebra Mussels and a planned 2012 study to assess Forest Lake’s vulnerability to Zebra Mussel infestation, if and when they arrive.

      II  “ Storm Water Runoff   2012 Management Programs”
by  Doug Thomas, Administrator, CL-FL Watershed District
Doug will cover:
  • The 2012 projects which reduce  phosphorus influx into Forest Lake( 3000 lbs/yr)  by treating storm water runoff.
  • The availability of residential grants ($3000) and City grants ( $50,000) to encourage future projects.
